My Morning Routine
Where are my morning people at?! I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while now because I love mornings and I love a good routine. Having a routine in the morning sets me up to not only feel better throughout the day but to feel more organized. As life gets busier, it’s harder to stick to a solid routine so I always leave room for flexibility based on my schedule. Here is my morning routine checklist that keeps me energized and feeling my best!
Early Wake Up
I have always been a morning person so starting my day early comes naturally but that definitely became a lot harder when I had my daughter and our sleep/work schedules changed dramatically. Some days, I set my alarm later than others (mama needs to rest), but I’m typically up by 5/5:30 am every day. This gives me time to get a few things set up for the day, workout, plan my day, and just enjoy some peace and quiet before the day starts. I call this my meditation time because there’s just something really peaceful about enjoying your morning lemon water or coffee in the quiet before the busyness of the day starts.
Morning Work Outs
I always try to squeeze in some type of exercise in the morning to get me moving. Some days I have more time than others, but I typically like to get at least 30-45 min done as soon as possible in the morning. Working out in the morning works best for me because it gives me more energy throughout the day and I tend to make smarter meal choices after. I used to be able to work out in the afternoon but being a working mom I quickly realized if I didn’t work out first thing in the morning the odds of me finding time throughout the day were iffy. It’s also nice knowing you already accomplished something for the day and can feed off that positivity.
Healthy Breakfast
I love to start my day with a healthy protein shake. My husband and I have been using Thrive products for over two years now and it’s our favorite premium nutrition brand. My favorite shake recipe is the Vanilla or Chocolate shake mixed with almond (or oat) milk, spinach, banana, and a scoop of peanut butter (can also use almond butter). It’s also really good with strawberries and other fruit added in, but typically don’t like a super sweet shake. (Disclaimer: Always check with your doctor first before changing nutrition routines)
Skincare Routine
I have definitely increased the number of steps in my skincare routine over the past year. Typically, my normal routine is a simple cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mineral sunscreen, and under-eye serum, but if I have time I love to do a moisturizing face mask and a cooled face roller. I have also really been into the under-eye masks lately. I have naturally dry skin so the more moisture I add into my routine in the morning the better! Below, are some of my favorite skincare finds. Plan My Day
I am definitely a to-do list kind of gal. I start a new one every day and add anything I didn’t accomplish the day before at the top. Writing it out every morning gives me a sense of relief and it helps me stay on task throughout the day. I’m not a huge planner person because I keep everything on my phone and on our family calendar in the kitchen for personal stuff. I love the idea of having a personal planner but I feel like I’m doubling the efforts writing plans out in different places so I just stick to my to-do lists and call it a day. You can even make fun personalized to-do lists on Etsy if you want to get fancy.
